The Greenville Area Quizzing Summer Spectacular (GAQSS) is a Summer Bible Quiz Tournament open to participants of all ages. On Saturday, July 12, five teams made of up ACS students, teachers and friends competed - Calvin Pettyjohn and Mr. Bamford, Katey Davis and Mr. Poston, Dalton Croy and Cullen Baggett, Caleb Flores and Jon Joransen, James and Gabrielle Joransen.
From the fifty teams entered in the tournament, three ACS teams made it to the Final Five. Calvin Pettyjohn and Mr. Bamford took 1st place, Dalton Croy and Cullen Baggett finished 2nd, and Katey Davis and Mr. Poston were 4th.
Each summer the elementary students enjoy showing their ACS spirit by sharing their photos taken in locations around the world wearing an ACS shirt, hat, etc. Students that participate will be recognized at chapel in August and prizes will be awarded. Summer Reading Alert
Elementary - All elementary students are challenged to a summer reading competition. Students will be eligible for a drawing for some AWESOME prizes when they come back to school. To be eligible they need to do at least one of the following:
complete the Barnes & Noble book form, have it signed at the store, and bring it to school on the first day
participate in your local public library's summer reading program, have the librarian sign the form, and bring it to school on the first day
read at least 8 books on the suggested summer reading list for your grade level, have a parent sign it, and bring it to school on the first day
The same books can be used for prizes from Barnes & Noble and the public library. Public libraries have great summer reading programs with prizes. Barnes & Noble offers a free book. Either can be used for the drawing here at ACS. You MUST bring the signed form for the drawing. HAPPY READING!!!!!
