MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAMPS! A BIG Congratulations goes out to the Boys and Girls Middle School basketball teams from ACS. Both teams recently won the Greater Athens MS Basketball championships, making it a clean sweep for ACS this year.
The Girls team, led by second-year Coach Brittany Roberson, went undefeated (12-0) in route to their championship. Charity Williams and Kaylee Skelton were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
The Boys team was led by Coach Van Beacham, whose teams have now won the MS League 3 years in a row. Maleak Oglesby and Marcus Wilson paced the Eagles and won All-Tournament honors.
Great job Middle School Eagles!

OPEN HOUSE AT ACS On January 27-28, we will hold our annual Open House at ACS. During this time we invite new families to our campus to learn more about the advantages that ACS has to offer.
Our students average 2 years above the national average in standardized testing, and for several years, 100% of our graduates have been accepted into college. Our athletic programs are among the best in the area, and we offer a wide range of extracurricular activities for our students.
When you combine what we offer with our low tuition, you will find that ACS is the best value in private education in northeast Georgia. We invite you to visit us any time.

DO CHRISTIANS SIN? have you ever heard this comment? And you call yourself a Christian!?! Or, in our case, And you call yourself a Christian school!?! Many times these comments are made when a Christian does something a non-Christian does not like even if it is not a sin.
Heres the truth. Christians do sin. In fact, Christians sin and make mistakes on a daily basis. We dont claim to be perfect. Were far from it. But we take great joy in knowing that our Savior has forgiven all of our sins and all of our mistakes. Its not what we have done, but what Christ has done for us.

NEW YEARS CLASSIC The first Saturday of January is always a special day at ACS. This is the day that we host the annual New Years Classic Bible Quiz Tournament.
Bible Quizzing is one of the unique, extracurricular activities offered at ACS. Students on the different Bible Quiz teams memorize Scripture (sometimes entire books of the Bible) and then compete in tournaments where they answer questions relating to the passages they have committed to memory.
Our Bible Quizzers are hiding Gods Word in their hearts and meditating on it often. We wish them the best in their competition this weekend.

SEEKING A NEW START In a few short days, the calendar will turn to 1/1/12. People celebrate the coming of a new year for many reasons, one of which is hope for an even better year ahead.
On January1, 1892, many Americans celebrated the new year with the opening of Ellis Island. An estimated 12 million immigrants came through Ellis Island before it closed in 1954. Today, 100 million Americans - roughly one-third of the population can trace their ancestry to the immigrants who first arrived in America at Ellis Island.
Those immigrants came seeking a new life. Perhaps 2012 will bring a new life for you a new life in Christ.

WAS HE THE MESSIAH? Not many people dispute the fact that Jesus was a real historical figure who lived on this earth 2000 years ago. Even those who do not accept His teachings acknowledge that He was a real person.
The dispute over Jesus is whether He was who He claimed to be the Messiah. Think about this. If He was not the Messiah, then His claim was a lie. How could Jesus be a good teacher (but not the Messiah) if He lied about who He was?
If Jesus was not the Messiah, then why celebrate Christmas? On the other hand, if He is our Saviour, we have great reason to celebrate His birth!

XMAS OR CHRISTMAS? I cannot properly address this question here, but I can raise it: Should Christmas be called Xmas?
Many who use the word Xmas do so in an effort to remove the name of the person whose birthday is being celebrated. Conversely, some argue that the X in Xmas comes from a combination of the Greek letters x and p, which was an accepted ancient abbreviation for the word Christ.
My problem with the latter argument is this: (1) how many people actually know that the X in Xmas could be associated with an ancient combination of Greek letters; and (2) this abbreviation is not used elsewhere in our modern language. As for me, Im sticking with Christmas!
