Development - Ways you can help

Athens Christian School is a private, non-profit, 501-c3 corporation which is not supported by church funds or government funds.  We set our tuition and fees to an affordable level so that we can serve as many families as possible.  For example, this includes capping tuition to 2 and ½ students for larger families.

We have a wonderful group of faculty and staff with great ideas for improving the educational and extra-curricular opportunities that we can offer at ACS.  We invite you to become more involved as the Lord has blessed you.  We encourage your support for building projects, to purchase equipment, and to support operations.  Your gifts are tax deductible as allowed for 501-c3 organization.  Many companies and businesses have matching giving programs for qualified organizations.  This is an excellent way to multiply your giving.  We are happy to help with documentation for these matching funds.

Here are some ideas for how you can help with donations:

While cash and pledges are the most common methods for giving, the following gift options are also available, and many offer considerable tax benefits.

  • Appreciated Securities – Giving stocks and bonds that have been held for more than one year provide even greater tax benefits than giving cash. If the appreciated security is given to a qualified charitable organization, such as Athens Christian School, the donor avoids capital gains tax and most likely will qualify for a tax deduction on the entire value of the charitable gift.  The simplest way to transfer securities is to have your broker contact the School Office.
  • Life Insurance Gift – Give a life insurance policy with Athens Christian School as owner and beneficiary.
  • Estate – Leave a legacy by making a gift in your will to Athens Christian School. A bequest is one of the simplest ways to remember those you care about most.

We have put together a needs list that may help give ideas for how you can help.  Some projects are large and will require some time to accomplish, but many items are waiting for the right person to fill the need.  You may give to the general support of these projects or you may designate and direct your giving to a specific item.   See how you can help:

Current Needs for the Band/Music Program:

We would like to improve our low brass section with new or slightly used baritones and tubas.  If you have one to donate or $$ to apply toward the purchase of these instruments, please contact the school office.

Current Needs for K3 - 4th grade:  Every school year, we throw away broken toys and toys that have misplaced parts.  As a result, we need to replace these so that the kindergarten and extended care students will have plenty of things with which to play.  We are asking you to consider ACS as a new home for toys that you no longer use.  Please drop off your clean, gently used, quality toys in the kindergarten art room from 7:30am - 5:30pm.  Thank you!

Current Needs for Elementary and Middle School:

We are planning to get a mobile laptop lab for our students.  This is a set of laptops that can roam from one class to another as teachers need them for student use.  If you can help in this area, please give the school a call.

Current Needs for High School:

We are in the process of updating our Physics and Chemistry labs.  We can give a good home to new or lightly used equipment  such as power supplies, scales, meters, oscilloscopes, etc... If you can help in this area, please give the school a call.    

 We can make use of new or slightly used computer equipment: Desktops, laptops, network switches, etc... If you can help in this area, please give the school a call.

Current Needs for Facilities:

We are looking for a 3 gang bar/reel type mower.  We are also looking for a 30 person "mini-bus". If you can help, please give the school a call.
